Jonathan Martin joined Bishop & Mills as an associate in August 2018. Jonathan obtained his J.D. at Florida State University College of Law in 2015, graduating magna cum laude. He served as a member of the FSU Moot Court team and Law Review. As an FSU Moot Court member, Jonathan was awarded best oralist in a competition before the Florida Supreme Court. He also was awarded first place in a national moot court competition. Jonathan continues to be actively involved with the FSU Moot Court team as a coach, where he has now twice coached his team to first place in a national competition held in Washington, D.C.

Before joining the firm, Jonathan was associate general counsel at the Florida Department of Financial Services for almost three years. There, Jonathan represented the Department in all aspects of the cases he was involved in, including appeals. Jonathan successfully represented the Department in all of his appeals, including one case where he presented oral argument before the First District Court of Appeal.

Now with Bishop & Mills, Jonathan’s duties include writing appellate briefs to be filed in the Florida District Courts of Appeal and the Florida Supreme Court, providing trial support to attorney clients, and presenting oral argument before the Florida District Courts of Appeal.
